Breast is best for mum

HEALTH ministers say babies should be only breastfed until they are at least six months old.

The nation’s ministers met this week to endorse the Australian National Breastfeeding Strategy 2010-2015 with a vision behind the strategy to protect, promote, support, value and be ”viewed as the biological and social norm”.

All health ministers agreed that breast was best for babies and mothers in the first six months.

Breastfeeding reduces the risk of obesity, chronic diseases and some respiratory illnesses.
