Singers tune up for Socceroos anthem

SINGING has been a big part of both Tania Murray and Danny Marx Young’s lives.

It has created a healthy environment for the two young stars who come from talented backgrounds.

Murray is the daughter of SBS personality Les Murray and Marx-Young is the son of legendary singer John Paul Young.

The song titled ‘The Beautiful Game’ has a very catch tune to it that will enrich your World Cup experience.

The idea of the song was born from the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) as part of an international training programme on football production. The ABU will distribute the DVD to all its member organisations (about 200 – throughout Asia and the Pacific, and Sth Africa) attracting a potential audience of 4 billion.   Head of Sport at MBC, Mr. Jug O’Cool, said the song would become a major hit with the people of Mauritius during the World Cup.  “Football’s really in the air in our country, with the help of Danny and Tania. The song has a wonderful melody and has been given an African flavour through the use of local musicians and the all girls choir,” he said.  ABU Director of Sport, John Barton, said the song embodied two wonderful themes: the beautiful game, as football is known worldwide, and the innocence of the young and their struggle in Africa.  Danny and Tania composed and recorded the song in their sound studio, Darkhorse.  “Yes, it has been a labour of love,” Danny told healthy.com.au “We’re both committed musicians, love writing songs, so the timing of the training programme  and the World Cup could not have been better. And what better place to perform it for the first time than in Mauritius?” “They’re football mad!”   Tania said: “I was moved by the decades of struggle in South Africa, their wonderful leader and statesman, Nelson Mandela, and the unbridled happiness that has come to a nation in celebration of a great sport – football.” They recently performed the song at a a Johnny Warren Football Foundation dinner.
