Many people do not realise that the way to control your weight is to develop awareness about your eating habits.
Unfortunately, most of us go through life without being conscious of what we put into our bodies and how we do it.
In modern Western society we are encouraged to eat and consume far more than we need to, because this is part of the ‘big business’ model that sees companies make profit.
Changing your eating habits can be hard, but if you really want to look good and feel great it is a process you need to go to.
The first thing to do is start to build awareness of how you eat during the day. The way to do this is to record a log of everything you eat for one week.
Note down what you eat and the time that you eat it. Do this for every piece of food and drink that enters your mouth!
Once you have developed the log, you can review it and start to look for patterns. Pay particular attention to the times of day you tend to eat, and the snacks that you eat.
Now you can start trying to substitute your least healthy habits for better options. For example, if you have a midmorning chocolate bar every day, change it to a banana. Instead of a can of soft drink, drink a glass of water.
The little changes add up and before you know it you will be a healthy eater!
