Just add ginger

GINGER Tea is brilliant for nausea for pregnant women; is great for calming people down during anxious times and helps create a relaxing day or night for you.

Its is great for you because it has anti-fungal properties and is a great herbal remedy for relieving the burning and itching associated with athlete’s foot. Prepare ginger tea, let it cool down, and soak your foot for 15 minutes a couple of times a day.

Ginger tea also relieves motion sickness when travelling in cars, planes or trains. It can also help the digestive process; combats inflammation; reduces dizziness; limits flatulence; controls chronic pain; eases the pain of muscle aches and rheumatoid arthritis and minimises symptoms of the common cold, allergies and other respitory conditions.

It can also act as a winter warmer through those cold wintery months.

Ginger tea, made from ginger root, is a good source of vitamin C, vitamin B6, magnesium, and potassium. Its characteristic flavor and odour is caused by a mixture of volatile oils (gingerols, shoagaols, and zingerone.

Many pregnant women rely on ginger tea to help calm themselves during what is a very testing and challenging nine months. It contains all the great nutrients as above to help the baby and create a brilliant effect on you and your personality throughout the process.

The ginger plant is indigenous to southeast Asia and is now also extensively cultivated in Jamaica and other tropical areas. It’s the plant’s aromatic rhizome (or underground stem) that’s used for culinary and medicinal purposes.

  • water, 4 cups
  • 2-inch piece of fresh ginger root
  • optional: honey and lemon slicePeel the ginger root and slice it into thin slices. Bring the water to a boil in a saucepan. Once it is boiling, add the ginger. Cover it and reduce to a simmer for 15-20 minutes. Strain the tea. Add honey and lemon to taste.
