To use the most obvious pun, here is a kind of food that millions of people around the world go nuts over…. Nuts!!!

Now, the family of nuts is actually quite big. There are the usual suspects like almonds, wall nuts, brazil nuts and cashews, then there are the exotic nuts like coconuts and macadamia nuts.

But while all types of nuts are different in their texture and taste, they all have a lot in common when it comes to health benefits.

As they are commonly referred to as a beer food, and a kind of thing you eat when you are snacking, people generally think nuts are bad for your health and something that should not be eaten to often.

It’s fair to say most people think nuts are just full of fat and high in calories, and they are right!

But, what they often don’t know is the fats in nuts are mostly unsaturated and essential in any diet, and the high calorie content is actually quite good because there are few negative health ingredients.

So the truth is, if you can resist the temptation in eating too many, nuts can be really good for you in moderation.

In terms of medical usage, nuts have been known for their ability to treat and prevent heart disease.

Numerous studies have found that eating nuts regularly actually reduces the heart disease and cardiac death by up to as much as 40 per cent.

Nutritionally, they are also high in protein, meaning they are just the foods gym junkies and athletes want to have.

Nuts are also rich in fiber, phytonutrients, antioxidants, and also high in plant sterols and Omega 3 fats.

In summary, nuts are great for almost any person, in any diet.
